Global Ship Emissions Maps
This website makes available global gridded inventories of ship emissions using a power-weighted approache to map top-down estimates onto an improved ICOADS data set, which we suggest is the most appropriate global ship traffic proxy identified to date for using a top down approach. These files represent updated inventories for 2001 published in JGR by Corbett and Koehler (2003/2004). These estimates are in good agreement with 2005 published work in JGR by Eyring et al.
Geographically resolved files with relative proportions of power-weighted ship traffic are available to plot alternative global inventories. Proxies are derived from ICOADS, AMVER, and a combination of the two. They can be selected at this location.
